New York is famous for its endless array of food and drink options – sometimes, it can be hard to know where to start. Thankfully, there are plenty of festivals and expos this Spring that will let you sample the best of what New York has to offer. Here are my top 10 favorites:
Bacon and Beer Classic

Queens, New York
The Bacon and Beer Classic is an all-inclusive event hosted inside baseball parks and stadiums across America. As attendees walk through the stadium, they will get a taste of history through the hundreds of craft brew samples and mouth-watering bacon-inspired tastes from local restaurants. Tickets range from $59 – $139, depending on how long you wish to stay and whether you want VIP access.
NYC Hot Sauce Expo
Brooklyn Expo Center, Greenpoint
The second edition of this heat-seeking fest will feature more than 45 hot-sauce vendors from around the country. Events include the Bloody Mary Mix Down Championship, and a spicy-food-eating contest. General admission tickets are $10, the “Beer & BBQ Lunchbox Ticket” is $55, and VIP passes are $100.
Brooklyn Crush Wine & Artisanal Food Festival
Sample over 200 wines and accompanying cheese, crackers and bread selections, crudite, charcuterie and other accompaniments at the spring edition of Brooklyn Crush Wine & Artisanal Food Festival. Tickets are $79 for the afternoon or evening session, or $179 for the VIP experience. All ticket prices include a complimentary wine glass and live music. Staten Island Brewfest And Wing Showcase
Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St George
Staten Island, NY
The 4th annual Staten Island Brewfest will showcase over 40 craft beers from all over the country, this time with the borough’s best chicken wings. Admission to the Richmond County Bank Ballpark will be $30 and includes a sampling glass and t-shirt. VIP status will cost $85 in advance, and will include access to the Ippolito Lounge plus free appetizers. Purchase your tickets through Ticketmaster to get a discounted rate.
Manhattan Cocktail Classic
May 16 – May 19
Founded in 2009, the Manhattan Cocktail Classic is part festival, part fête, part conference and part cocktail party. The annual five-day celebration offers events spread across the boroughs. The opening night gala will take place on May 16 and industry invitational (for those in the beverage trade) will be held on the 18th. Ninth Avenue International Food Festival
May 16 – May 17
9th Avenue, 42nd – 57th Streets
Sample a global array of food and beverages at this free annual festival. An entire city block of children’s rides, games, and attractions will make the festival fun for the whole family.
Taste of Times Square
46th Street b/t Broadway and 9th Ave
Many of Times Square’s best restaurants will offer their finest tastes from around the globe at the annual outdoor food and music festival, Taste of Times Square. The festival has no admission fee, and tasting tickets are $1. Patrons can purchase tickets on the day of the event and in advance both online at www.TimesSquareNYC.org/Taste and at the Times Square Visitor Center and Museum on 7th Ave. between 46th and 47th Streets.
The New York Best Wings Festival
Westbury, New York
The New York Best Wings festival will attract wing fanatics from all over the Tri-State area. Sample wings from award-winning restaurants and wash them down with local craft beer. If you’re feeling brave, enter one of the eating contests as well. General admission tickets are $10, and VIP tickets are $95.
Egg Rolls and Egg Creams Festival
Museum at Eldridge Street
Lower East Side
This year, the Museum at Eldridge Street’s signature festival celebrating Jewish and Chinese culture will expand to also feature the food, music and folk arts of the Puerto Rican community. Enjoy Chinese opera, klezmer and salsa and plena music; Yiddish, Mandarin and Spanish lessons; Hebrew and Chinese scribal art, Puerto Rican mask making, mahjong and, of course, egg rolls, egg creams and empanadas. Entrance to the festival is free.
Big Apple Barbecue Block Party
June 13- 14
Madison Square Park
Entering its 13th year this June, The Big Apple Barbecue Block Party features all the elements of real pit barbecue – from the heady smells of smoked meat and the rollicking sounds of the South, to an abundance of charm, handcrafted ingredients and spirits. Admission is free, but VIP passes can be purchased for $275.
